Bouncy houses, burgers, and a brand new hotel made for an exhilarating day as My Place Hotels of America officially celebrated the opening of their location in Grand Rapids, MN, the 71st open and operating property in the My Place family.
To say there was excitement in the air feels like an understatement as community members flooded the lobby of the newly-built, 63-key hotel several minutes before the event began, eager for their turn to take a tour. As guests walked through the property — taking in the fully-equipped guest rooms, 24/7 laundry facility, grab-and-go My Store and even the indoor pool — the consistent sentiment was that this new hotel was just what the visitors of Grand Rapids were looking for.
With easy access to Sylvan Bay Landing and the Fishing Pier, as well as the Judy Garland Museum and Pokegama Golf Course, guests are never far from the best Grand Rapids has to offer in beautiful northern Minnesota.

A crowd surpassing over 300 people had the opportunity to hear from Kerry Larsen, Business Relations Coordinator with the Grand Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce; Tasha Connelly, Mayor of Grand Rapids; Taylor and Randee Grife, General Managers of the property; and Ryan Rivett, President and CEO of My Place Hotels. There was no shortage of enthusiasm as each speaker articulated the need for this My Place Hotel in the community, and the hard work and dedication it took to bring the project to fruition and get us to the point of celebrating its grand opening.
A strong sense of community pride was felt as the Grand Rapids residents came together to not only celebrate this new addition, but to celebrate the city they are proud to call home. Community members welcomed us with open arms, leading to one of the highest-attended grand opening events in the brand's history.
